I can read about eight hundred pages on a weekend, one hundred to three hundred on a school night (depending how much homework I have).

I read, I would say, about a hundred pages an hour, give or take. It does depend on stuff like font size, easiness of text, size of pages, etc. But whatever. I am not a person to savor books, though. If I like it, I won't put it down.

The only time I savor books is like, if the book is one of a kind. Not that I like it necessarily, but that I'm sure I'll never read something exactly like it again. The three examples that spring to mind are Thirteen Reasons Why, Flowers for Algernon and my current book, South of Broad. I read these three slowly, simply because I hated to think that I'd never have a "first time" with them again.

I'm a very slow reader typically. I can just about double my reading speed when I want to, but I don't enjoy reading that way. I don't really read enough anymore, though, anyway.

I'll read a good book in a day/night/whatever.

i read faaaaaaaast... :P

I hate twilight, (don't hate me for saying it), but I read new moon in 4 hours.

I'd imagine that's considered fast.

I can read quickly if the book is engaging .. I finished Catching Fire in about three days or so.

100 pages a day on average. For good books that can double or triple. Split that in half for Shakespeare.

I don't very fast, but that's only because if I read as fast as I can, I end up missing most of the minor details. I feel like taking your time while reading lets you get into the book, plus why rush reading something you are doing for pleasure anyway?

Also, the way I read is I jump a couple lines ahead and read that, then read what I skipped. I don't know why, but that is just how I read

i can read faster than a lot of people, but i also like to take my time to absorb everything and just think about it.

My sophomore year of highschool I read a book every day. Literally. I went to the library and checked out a different book everyday.

Take it home, read it, take it back, get a new one, take it home, read it, take it back, get a new one, take it home...

I had just transferred schools and I had a hard time making friends because my new school was SO HUGE and there were so many people and it was the middle of highschool and it was rough, but I had books. Eventually I made a group of friends, but I kept up the reading. I read the Uglies series, the Chloe King series, and a bunch of other stand alone books that semester (transferred to a new school half way through that year to the school I'm at now where we don't have a library...)

I don't know if that's considered speed reading, or more of a reading obsession...

I'm not a fast reader. I prefer going slow and really taking time to notice the little details. When I read a new book, I tend to get tongue tied because of the different writing style... But give me a few pages and I'm used to it- but even though I increase in speed, I still consider myself slow. If I don't understant something, I go back and read it again. Plus, if something is spelt unusually, I check it in the dictionary- or yet again... Reread it and figure out how the word is pronounced best. Do you get what I mean?
A book with a minimum of 400 pages can take me 2 days. :) Perhaps 6- 8 hours; squeeze sleeping, eating, homework, school and other shenanigans in.

I totally get what you mean. I like to absorb the details too. I go back and re-read as well and if I don't understand a word in context I ChaCha it. I just tend to neglect my social life, like, completely when I get on a speed reading run. Sometimes I don't see anyone outside of school for several weeks because I'm just soooooo involved in my books. I text and call and all that jazz, but my life revolves around my story. Wow...I'm such a Hermit Crab. Oh well...
