With November comes National Novel Writing Month! This month, people all over do their best to complete a 50,000 word novel by midnight on November 30. Now, I'm bad at explaining things, so here's directly from the site:

Quote:
What: Writing one 50,000-word novel from scratch in a month's time.

Who: You! We can't do this unless we have some other people trying it as well. Let's write laughably awful yet lengthy prose together.

Why: The reasons are endless! To actively participate in one of our era's most enchanting art forms! To write without having to obsess over quality. To be able to make obscure references to passages from our novels at parties. To be able to mock real novelists who dawdle on and on, taking far longer than 30 days to produce their work.

When: You can sign up anytime to add your name to the roster and browse the forums. Writing begins November 1. To be added to the official list of winners, you must reach the 50,000-word mark by November 30 at midnight. Once your novel has been verified by our web-based team of robotic word counters, the partying begins.

I know that we have a whole bunch of excellent writers here, and I was wondering who else is with me? Anyone interested in signing up or just looking for more info should visit NaNoWriMo.org

If you want to add me to your Writing Buddies list, this is my page: http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/user/435574

I'm excited to start this. I really want to win.

Dude! I've been planning to do this forever. I knew aboutit probably before you, actually.

I'm not going to make an account, though; 1) I'm paranoid that people will steal my ideas 2) This is for me, not them.

And you don't really win....

....remember the Mirror idea? That's what I'm doing.

My friend Ingrid had an advertisement for this at school, and it had those tabs at the bottom, so I went around where we sat for lunch going, "Would YOU like to write a novel in 30 days? 50,000 words for 30 days! Yes, 30 days!"

Those things were gone in about 3 minutes.

Probably because I yelled.

I think I'll participate. Maybe.

@Unk: They scramble it.. and you don't even really have to submit anything at all... I've known about this since this time, last year, and you win by finishing your novel (and maybe betting it published)

@Lulu: I was in an uncharacteristically good mood all today. People at my language arts table actually asked me if I was doing drugs during red ribbon week, and they all want to see my book when I'm done.

@Saaf: I think it's cuz you yelled. You seem like you could yell in a very intimidating manner, and from what I've heard of your voice, it's right to command total attention. And you should totally do it.

Mirror idea? I'm doing a story that sounds like that....I'll be paranoid and ask "you didn't get this idea from me", did you?

I just joined up, under the username of Seraphania *so original* There's a whole group of us NaNoWriMo writers in Shanghai!

Lol, Aya xD

I don't plan on making mine an actual OF of mine that I want published. Since it's my first year doing it, and with it this November is going to be hellish for me, I'm doing a light thing, not deep at all, not complicated or particularly sophisticated. Once I find out what I can do in the time period of thirty days, then I'll probably plan a deeper one for next year.

Hmm...I've never actually written a 50k story before...my closest was PoL, with 40k. I did that in less than a month, so I should be able to do this...except for I write PoL in the summer...

Grr...I'm so mad none of my friends like writing, and would consider me crazy for trying this...I gotta go find myself some more sophisticated friends...j/k <myfriends33

@Callisto: -takes question for Unk-Unless you're writing about a serial killer, I doubt yours is like his :p

@Lulu: I feel your pain with the friends... that's why I asked you all! I wrote about 25K words in about two weeks last November, so I'm hoping I'll be okay... it's still going to need effort, though.

What's going to need effort for me is doing a consistent 2k a day or more...I normally do around 500 or 1k a day when I'm writing my other stories, if I even write at all that day...I think I'll be carrying around a notebook wherever I go so I can keep writing and then transfer it to my computer later...

That's a good idea, I think I'll be doing that, too. And I practice writing by narrating my life, anyhow.

Me too... oh, that language arts test... :P

I'm super stoked to start this... I'm seriously, like, buzzing.
